Many many years ago, one would say that this earth was populated entirely by creatures, creatures that flourished in the great beyond without harm from outside forces. However, one day that all changed. Man decided to infiltrate that narrow boundary that separated the planes and take over these hapless, gentle beings causing an extreme shift in the world as we know it today. The ones that were not brutally killed, tortured, or eaten managed to survive but could never command the respect they deserved. It was a terrible blow to the anguish already bestowed upon them. As humans descended upon the planes, the creatures that were left decided to go into hiding to a place unknown to their enemies....the underwater abyss of a dark realm not yet seen by human eyes. The sea. Deep within these fathoms of sanctuary a highly evolved creature with an intelligence level above genius emerged... The Gothic Octopus. So stealth are these beings, that no one alive has ever witnessed their existence. Their invertebrate counterparts, the cephalopod known as the regular octopus of the order Octopoda, have acted as guardians to the gate of impossibility. Now, due to outside influences, near extinction, and the world in an extreme state of chaos, the Gothic Octopus sect have come to undo the injustices and take back what was stolen from their souls so many years ago-- their aura of being.

The octopus (Greek, eight-legs) is a cephalopod of the order Octopoda that inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, especially coral reefs. The term may also refer to only those creatures in the genus Octopus. In the larger sense, there are 289 different octopus species, which is over one-third the total number of cephalopod species.

Octopuses are highly intelligent, probably the most intelligent of any of the invertebrates, with their intelligence supposedly comparable to that of the average housecat. Maze and problem-solving experiments show that they have both short- and long-term memory, although their short lifespans limit the amount they can ultimately learn.
